The very well-known Charminar of Hyderabad is located in the Old City. This square-shaped structure with a height of 56 m and a breadth of 30 m was constructed in 1591. It was built by Sultan Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah in the honor of his wife Bhagmati.

In 1617 it was built by Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah, although the construction was completed in 1694 by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. With a height of almost 75 feet and dimensions of 220 feet by 180 feet, it can easily accommodate about 10,000 devotees.

Mosque has stunning interiors as well with Belgian crystal chandeliers, beautifully designed five arches on each side, a verse from Quran on arches, and the doors.

The name of the fort has been derived from the Telugu words "Golla" and "Konda" which together means 'Shepherd's Hill'.

However, do keep in mind the Golconda Fort timings and entry fee before planning a visit to this regal symbol of history. For instance, Golconda fort timings are from 9 am to 5.30 pm.

After that, visitors are not allowed to enter the fort, unless they are going for the light and show at night. Hence, to explore the beauty of this place at leisure, plan your visit early in the day.

4. Birla Mandir

Birla Mandir in Hyderabad is dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara of Tirumala Tirupati temple. It is said that a whopping quantity of white marble, which is almost 2000 tonnes, was brought from Rajasthan for building this temple.

He also had agents abroad who sent him catalogs and lists from well-known antique dealers.
